For new believers
Your Next Steps With Jesus
Just put your faith in Jesus, or thinking about it? Start with the gospel, make sure you’ve received Christ, then grow deeper in your relationship with Him one step at a time.
Step 1
The Gospel,
Broken Down
The gospel means “good news.” Here it is in four parts, straight from Scripture.
01
God Loves You
God created you to know Him and loves you more than you can imagine.
John 3:16 (WEB)For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
02
We All Sinned
Every one of us has sinned, and sin separates us from a holy God.
Romans 3:23 (WEB)for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God…
Romans 6:23 (WEB)For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03
Jesus Paid It
Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again. He is the only way to the Father.
Romans 5:8 (WEB)But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 14:6 (WEB)Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
04
We Receive Him
Salvation is a gift. We receive it by faith, not by earning it.
John 1:12 (WEB)But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name…
Romans 10:9 (WEB)that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Step 2
How You Can
Receive Christ
Admit Your Need
I am a sinner, in need of a Savior.
Romans 3:23 (WEB)for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God…
Be Willing to Turn From Your Sins
Turn away from your sins and turn toward God (repent).
Acts 3:19 (WEB)“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord…
Believe
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (WEB)For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…
Receive Him
Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. Receive Him as Lord and Savior.
John 1:12 (WEB)But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name…
How to Pray
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name, amen.”
Step 3
Your
Assurance
If you sincerely prayed this prayer and asked Jesus Christ to come into your life, here is what the Bible says:
Romans 10:13 (WEB)For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 (WEB)for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
You are a new creation. Your salvation rests on what Jesus did, not on how you feel today.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (WEB)Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
1 John 5:13 (WEB)These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
Step 4
Deepen Your
Relationship With Christ
Get Baptized
Your first public step of obedience. How to get baptized
Acts 2:38 (WEB)Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Join a Church
Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached. How to find a good local church
Hebrews 10:24-25 (WEB)Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.
Love Others & Share Jesus
Show your new life by your love and concern for others, and tell others about Christ.
John 13:35 (WEB)By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Read Your Bible Every Day
Get to know Christ better through His Word. New to the Bible? Start with the Gospel of John.
Psalm 119:105 (WEB)Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
Pray Every Day
Talk to God in prayer every day. It’s a relationship, not a ritual.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (WEB)Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
